چکیده

Practical distributed systems are typically built under a crash-fault model. Recently, arbitrary faults such as bit flips have been observed surprisingly often [5], and have disrupted large services such as Amazon S3 [2]. We present a framework for building distributed protocols which automatically improves their fault coverage by means of an encoded processing compiler [4]. Although encoded protocols cannot withstand attacks by malicious adversaries, they can tolerate a wide variety of non-malicious arbitrary faults. This preliminary work focuses on leader election, a fundamental primitive in distributed systems. In these protocols, a bit flips can possibly violate liveness and safety properties, for instance, by never electing a leader, or by electing more than one leader at the same time. We implement two election algorithms in our framework and experimentally analyze the transformation’s overhead on CPU utilization and election time.

A Secure and Efficient Scheme for Remote Poll Station Voting

Electronic voting has found wider acceptance both in developed and developing countries in the recent past. The current research focuses mainly in the area of privacy and security aspects of e-voting. In spite of the good security and privacy features, the existing e-voting protocols remain useful only to small elections or just to support the conventional voting, mainly because of their high c...

Network Parameters Evaluation in Vehicular Ad-hoc Network (VANET) Routing Protocols for Efficient Message Delivery in City Environment

Abstract- Efficient message delivery in city environment is required to ensure driver’s safety and passenger’s comfortability. In cities of developed nations, routing of data in vehicular Ad hoc Network (VANET) faces many challenges such as radio obstacles, mobility constraints and uneven nodes distribution. These factors primarily makes communication between vehicles complex. To overcome and t...

Asymptotic scalability analysis of mobility protocols based on signalling overhead

Abstract: Increasing demand for mobility in wireless data networks has given rise to various mobility management protocols. The protocols use signalling messages to maintain reachability of mobile nodes. Increase in the number of mobile nodes gives rise to the scalability issues that need to be dealt with to avoid performance degradation of the network. In this paper, we have developed analytic...

A Secure Method for Network Coding-based Reprogramming Protocols in Wireless Sensor Networks

Reprogramming protocols provide a convenient way to update program images via wireless communication. In hostile environments where there may be malicious attacks against wireless sensor networks, the process of reprogramming faces threats from potentially compromised nodes. While existing solutions can provide authentication services, they are insufficient for a new generation of network codin...

High Frequency Analysis of Single Overhead Line Terminated to Grounded Arrester

In this paper, intelligent models based on fuzzy inference are proposed to analyze single overhead line terminated to arrester. This paper consists of two parts. The first one is modeling overhead line and the second one is related to modeling grounding system. In each part, the behavior of the problem is first represented as simple and unchanged membership functions. After then, effects of par...
